This strand of the project was developed by Michael Fortune as part of an intergenerational project he conducted in Blackwater in conjunction with Blackwater Tidy Towns, FÁS and local youth groups.

The project was supported by Wexford County Council as part of their ‘Artist in the Community Scheme’ and features information on various sites of historical and cultural importance around the village.

Between June and August 2014, a group of young people under the leadership of Michael and many locals, including Barbara Brennan, Declan Flanagan and Eugene Murphy conducted conversations, research and excursions around the village. The website and corresponding map was launched on the 10th of October 2014 in Blackwater Village where Michael presented the people involved with frame prints of some of the sites in the archive as well as copies of Edward Culleton’s book ‘On Our Ground’ to the young people involved.

Please note most of these sites are private land so please seek landowners permission before entering onto their property. Locations researched and designed by Michael Fortune, 2014.
